More Iraq war apologetics from LFF. Of course global Islamic terrorism existed before the war, but it is the matter of empowerment that the disastrous Western interventions (before and after 2003) which enabled the spread and gave it all the opportunity it needed which is the issue. ISIS declared their ‘Caliphate’ in Iraq in 2006, though not as significant then, it only took a few years before they were able to take over vast swaves of the country in Iraq and in neighbouring Syria. Enabled by the West and the oil monarchies who destabilised Syria as a matter of policy.

Don’t worry they are probably just the stop gap to keep the military industrial complex going and NATO ticking over whilst we wait for the real show of the arms race with China. As soon as that begins I would be surprised if we don’t suddenly find ways of getting rid of these groups.

Essentially neither Islam nor Christianity are based upon violent expansion, yet both have had followers who did it at one time or another and the same can be said for many other philosophies and religions. There are many followers of Democracy and Western Liberalism who believe in the violent expansion of Democracy and Western Liberalism into every illiberal non-Democracy that chooses to stay as such.

what a load of ****. If Saddam was still in power no one with sense thinks that there would ISIS in Iraq. If Gaddafi was still in power no one with sense thinks that there would be ISIS in Libya. Half of the supposed Jihadists at any one time just happen to be any old Muslim involved in any sort of national liberation struggle the other half are from groups with very peculiar origins indeed, many of which have at one time or another been the political tools of Western geo-political games at one time or another (America supported al-Qaeda in Afghanistan, Israel funded embryonic Hamas to counteract the PLO and according to many sources is currently giving ISIS medical support and military advice as a tool against Iran etc). This article is chock full of Neocon minded total nonsense, like suggesting Al-Qaeda was
in Saddam’s Iraq before the invasion, more so than after. I was surprised when it didn’t quote the dodgy
dossier as well.
