Anyway, Google is a great example of a company which would abuse TTIP to not comply with EU law. The complaint about them from the EU authorities is a good read. Their downright petulance about complying with the law…

No-one (much!) is against trade. But what’s sinister are the secret courts that TTIP will bring, together with, for example, the threat to the NHS and lower standards of food safety. There’s precious little evidence that that pacts of this sort deliver benefits to ordinary people.

This isn’t about free trade, it’s about American imperialism. There are already very few barriers to American goods, except on basic health grounds.

And trade of good without freedom of movement for people is what happened to Africa. Global poverty remains persistently high, of course, and the mitigation has not been capitalist trade deals like TTIP.

The “advantages” of TTIP – company rights above governments, fewer worker rights, fewer jobs.
Those who support it are faking being left wingers.

Increasing trade and reducing barriers is the single most important thing we can do to help lift nations out of poverty and the left need to embrace it.

If you care about reducing poverty and suffering in the world huge trade barriers and anti-free trade movements are actually immoral.

They are steeped in a mixture of protectionism and paternalism and argued by people who have no idea what they are talking about.

Do you know why Africa has developed so much in the last 20 years? Why global poverty has plummeted? It’s not trade barriers or development aid. It’s the increase of markets and reduction of trade barriers. The left has to realise this. They also have to realise the huge benefits ttip and other agreements will bring.

They realise it ( some of the left) when it comes to Europe but why not the rest of the world?
