If there can never be a two state solution, there can never be peace. God didn’t choose any one group of people as his “chosen ones” That kind attitude had fueled more hate and wars than any arms industry.

If the Palestinian people’s attitude is to try to murder innocent people on a Tel-Aviv bus, no wonder the Israelis aren’t keen to negotiate with them. And with whom will they be negotiating? With another Arab dictatorship. Mahmud Abbas is in his tenth year of a four-year term of office. I am sick to death of people pointing to the Palestinians as if they are victims of the Israelis. Like all the other Arab states, they are victims of their own corruption and hatred. The poisonous hatred they have to Jews in general and the Israelis in particular will be their downfall, in fact it already is, they kill far more of their own people than they kill Jews. Gary Scott like all the other “do-gooders” is anxious to ignore Palestinian atrocities.

This seems written in far more hope than conviction, on two levels. The first is that while Labor and Likud are indeed running neck and neck, with more than one poll even putting them one or two mandates (seats) ahead, it doesn’t take into account the all important coalition making process where the seats of Bayit Yehudi (Bennett) and Yisrael Beitenu (Lieberman) will outwiegh those of Meretz and Hadash. Secondly, the political marriage between ex Likudnik Tzipi Livni and Labor leader Isaac Herzog doesn’t suggest theyr’re going to make a big break with the past. I’d like to be proven wrong, of course. I’d like Israel to take its obligations seriously and negotiate in good faith. And the result of the Labor primaries does indeed offer a progressive element. But I feel it is more likely to be too little, too late.

The problem being that Fatah gave a major boost to the Israli Right with his ill-timed move on the ICC, and now said Israli Right are blowing things up in other countries again.

Sigh.

The focus of the Left on internal matters, economic matters, is being diluted and with it their hope of victory.

Will this see change in their policies towards the Palestinian people? I hope it will, I hope that there is a genuine will for genuine communication and genuine negotiations. More countries are recognising Palestine and it is becoming a member of international bodies much to the chagrin of Israel and USA. If things continue as they are it will eventually have matters taken from its hands as the international community has lost patience. This mood, even if not resulting in sanctions, will result in a loss of business confidence and a loss of trade. As the Israeli voters know everything is interlinked. The time has come for Israel to come of age as a mature democracy.
