The latest scam is if someone applies for any kind of a payday/sort term loan they are then deluged with text messages from firms willing to help. They present them selves as the actual lender and charge an arrangement fee. What happens then is that they then refer the person to another lender or lenders and claim that that was what the fee was for.

The other scam is to ask for bank details to pay in the loan which never arrives but the fee is taken. Even if the account is empty the next payment will see the fee deducted. It is important to tell your bank not to pay anything without your instructions.
