Older readers will remember that there was once a proper political party in the UK that cared about such things. But when they became “intensely relaxed about people getting filthy rich” (what they actually meant was “f@*k you I’m getting my snout into that trough”) we were stuffed.
The TIPP trade agreement (that same party is once again relaxed on the issue) will serve to make elections even more irrelevant.

I can’t understand this part. You say

Don’t ‘working and lower class’ UKIP supporters believe that immigration creates downward pressure on wages and working conditions? Of course some will be BNP defectors and are more blatantly racist. Perhaps the more naive younger UKIP supporters are more likely to see tax reductions, or a simple flat rate as a good thing, forgetting the link with services which they may need.

Many older UKIP supporters are right wing Tory defectors who support traditional values, live in the South and have acquired considerable assets in the form of property or equities. This will be perceived as providing them with greater wealth and will see inequality as a positive thing inducing people to work harder despite probably being rich themselves through unearned gains.

In brief UKIP have effectively collated together a diverse mix of policies which are likely to appeal to the ignorant and selfish who have little regard to the long term consequences on others.
