Gaza was originally a part of Egypt that was taken by the Israelis in 1967. All of the Jewish settlements were dismantled and the entirety handed to the Palestinian authority which has mismanaged everything ever since.

Various factions which have the destruction of the Israeli state as their stated aim have controlled the strip with disastrous results for the population which lives in deprivation. All the Palestinian leadership has to do is to stop rocket attacks into Israel and learn to behave as a normal modern state and the blockade would be lifted.

The Palestinian refugees have been kept in the camps by their leadership as a bargaining counter with the world. A fraction of the money spent on trying to destroy Israel would have resettled them in neigbouring countries were they would, with their energy and enterprise have thrived.

How stupid is it that when Cameron visits they decide to start throwing rockets into Israel once more?
