CCHQ taking credit for Labour’s record on violent crime

The Tories are claiming credit for a fall in violent crime that mostly occurred under Labour.

Bereft of things for which they themselves can take the credit, the Conservative party press office (CCHQ) is instead busy trying to claim the credit for things achieved by other people.

What else explains this bizarre tweet by CCHQ yesterday evening, which appears to be an attempt by the Tories to take credit for a fall in violent crime that mostly occurred under Labour?

Violent crime is down considerably between 1995 and 2012/13. But if anyone is to receive credit for this, then surely it ought to be the party that was in power for 13 of those years, rather than a party that has been in power for just four of them.

Perhaps CCHQ are trying to re-write history again.
