Quite. Nearly all the papers are controlled by foreign owned companies or tax exiles (aka tax dodgers).

Unfortunately the newspapers do still have an impact despite decreasing sales and a lot of my comrades need to wake up to this. Whenever I pop into the cafe at lunchtime the only newspapers being read are rightwing tabloids – I have never seen anyone read the Guardian ever. If (a big if) Labour returns to power it should insist anyone owning a British newspaper should be a citizen of this country – the Yanks insist on it that’s why Murdoch had to become a US citizen.
