Three or was it four days ago, Ed Miliband was on TV giving his Nice New labour speech about how Labour has to fight for the middle class, those poor old squeezed middle class.

The bloke really has no idea of how people live in the real world he goes on about how the Tories are hammering the labour middle class, the hard working middle class.

George Galloway bashing is a dangerously easy pursuit. Whatever one thinks of Galloway, he was able to articulate the anger that many are feeling far more effectively than Labour. For far too long, Labour have been far too reticent, they are still more worried about the headlines in the Sun and the Daily Mail than they are in actually speaking up for the people who now, more than ever, really need them.

Oh possibly they’ll squeak in with a fraction of the left who will vote “non-Tory”, the centralists and a few other groups. But they’ll squeak in, while 4+ million more on the left sit at home.

The Labour vote in 1950 was barely over a quarter million less than their “overwhelming” victory in 1997, and their vote in 1929 barely a half-million less than 2010.

If Galloway is such a slimy, mendacious little shite – and I personally believe that they’re the least in his catalogue of repulsive traits – why did Bradford Labour allow him to defeat them? It’s all very well pointing out his vile letter and his despicable supporters whilst holding a hand-wringing, sack and ashes post-mortem, but don’t you think a bit of homework and hard work should have been done?
