Surely if ROC’s and the FIT are irrelevant, it doesn’t matter if they are removed. I don’t think you really mean that.

On the other hand, I find it difficult to understand why it is not a requirement for new build houses (if and when they are built) and renovations to have solar panels on the roof. It would be much cheaper than putting them on later, and they will soon be cost effective even without FIT.

When I read an article by someone who uses wind power ONLY, and can explain how the country (not just them) could manage on a still day I will be convinced. Until then I believe that we will always need backup generation systems which need to be kept running at all times.

The comments posted to this article thus far are nonsense. Wind is one part of a mix of energy sources that we need going forward in the UK. Wind will soon, if not already reach grid parity with fossil derived power generating technologies. There is no evidence to suggest it has failed or in fact that it relies solely on subsidies such as ROC’s or the FIT.

What a scam this wind industry is. An industry driven by deceit and mistrurhs all to disguise their desire to make money from ROC subsidies. Where is the evidence that power stations are decomissioned because of wind power in the world. This is an industry with scam written over it. just google ” wind scam”.
