Well actually no as policing in Scotland is a devolved matter under Scottish Law, ah well back to the England only line then..

First, the Met do seem poorly prepared for rioting, both in terms of numbers of officers and equipment available. Second, Salmond has a point in referring to events as ‘English riots’. If trouble had been contained to London, they’d be called ‘London riots’, not ‘English riots’. The same principle applies when trouble didn’t reach three of the four constituent parts of the UK, surely?
