I have seen person after person in my area gain low grade degrees, a few who have gained a good degree, and the majority end up working in call centers or warehouses.

Whilst we of course need to formulate an education system that provides appropriate educational standards and support for students, more than anything, we need to address the economy to ensure there is enough growth to provide sufficient employment for people in the future.

Without such steps, no amount of change within the education system will matter.

While our country continues to be run in the interests of a wealthy minority, ‘public’ spending on education or anything else will have to go. If it didn’t, cuts might affect the very people we run the country for. Fortunately, their interests are nicely insulated from public spending cuts via private schools, private health insurance, gated communities and most important of all, family and friends in all the right places.
