For example – according to the last government’s own National Equality Panel’s findings on 27th January 2010:

“The study says that inequality in income has reached the highest level since records began in 1961, and probably since the end of the Second World War. It also concludes that inequality in Britain is among the worst in the developed world, with the highest rate of poverty in western Europe.”

Or did you mean the lifting children out of poverty? Because on the same day as above the charity Save The Children produced evidence that:

“Measuring Severe Child Poverty in the UK reveals that 13% of the UK’s children are now living in severe poverty and shows that efforts to reduce child poverty have not only stalled but have slid into reverse.”

Evidence showed a sharp increase in severe poverty even before the recession, with an additional 260,000 children plunged into severe poverty during four years of UK economic boom before the recession hit in 2008.
