Did anyone see Clegg on Andrew Marr claiming that cutting the deficit in 5 years rather than 8 was about ‘intergenerational fairness’? Presumably he had in mind generations of hamsters.

Nope: with every Lib Dem-sponsored rise in the tax threshold, the regressive effects of the VAT rise and benefit cuts will be compounded (as those too poor to benefit fully from those threshold changes fall further and further behind middle income groups).

They way senior Lib Dems are slowly buying into Conservative policy and principles is really appalling. Not even I predicted these u-turns back in May. They have taken a ‘if you can’t beat them, join them’ attitude that is just ghastly. All the problems in the English education system are not going to be fixed by Michael Gove and his change for the sake of change approach. I have more to say, but if you want to read more it’s prob. best you read an article i recently wrote other wise i’d go on and on…politics is just really p*ssingme off at the moment!
