Cameron, Gideon, and the Common People

A reworking of 'Common People' with a strong anti-Tory message has been viewed by 70,000 people in three days. Do the right thing on May 6th, urge the makers.

A reworking of Pulp’s 1995 hit ‘Common People’ with a strong anti-Tory message has been viewed by over 70,000 people in just three days. The description on YouTube reads:

“THIS VIDEO IS NOT PRO-ANYONE. IT IS SIMPLY ANTI-TORY.”

Cameron sings the truth to the British electorate about what he needs to do to get in and what he’d do if he gets there.

“Do the right thing on May 6th.”

Nice to see that the creators of that video don’t hold peoples’ backgrounds against them…

Was that evidence based discussion of the policies? Classy.

  6. Mister Jabberwock

That video is by any definition of the word simply bigotted; there is no other word for it. It is not even particularly clever.

Lovin’ the evidence. You keep telling me that LFF isn’t a Labour attack blog. Still standing by that?

P.S. There was one bit of evidence you overlooked – the “They fucked the country before” caption towards the end of the video. Ermmm…. you might want to take a look at the before and after Labour have been in government stats.

Master Jabberwock – 70,000 people and counting disagree with you.

Billy – You’ll notice the video’s description says “This video is not pro-anyone. It is simply anti-Tory”. I think that sentiment explains a lot of the shift in support for Nick Clegg in the last 10 days.

We’re a progressive blog and, aside from their focus on open government, we find very little progressive in the Tories’ manifesto. Meanwhile, Labour, the Lib Dems and Greens platforms have plenty to recommend them. So we’ll keep doing what we do.

Will – How do you know 70,000 people disagree with me. I am one of the 70,000 people who have watched it and I definitely agree with me (actually I watched it twice!) Every one of the 70,000 might have thought that is bigotted – whether or not they agreed with it.

In any event there a millions of biggots out there; I just didn’t realise that you wanted to attract them to such an oh so progressive site.

The fact that that is your only argument that it is not bigotted sort of makes my point quite eloquently.

Mister Jabberwock (coward!): there is a lot of difference between bigotry (Grammar school boy are you? You can’t even spell the word and its derivations!) and the healthy disrespect ordinary working class people have for a privileged Tory elite who have consistently allowed them to rot in unemployment, poor housing, inadequate education, etc. – this video is simply a hilarious reflection of that deserved disrespect. Suck it up!

only those on the far right and tory supporters could find this unfunny…wait, they;re but one and the same!

Very funny video. Cameron is really quite disliked by most people. Can’t wait to see how the tory party will ruthlessly dispose of him post election day.
