Petition: Tell the Daily Mail to publish a comment piece by a Calais migrant

Let's make the Mail tell the other side for once!

We’ve read the Daily Mail’s coverage of migration every day, we’re pretty disgusted.

Today MediaWatch is launching a petition to do something about it.

Click here to tell the Daily Mail to give migrants a voice!

We call on the Daily Mail newspaper to publish a comment piece by a migrant living in Calais, France.

Its readers should hear the migrants’ side for a change.

Why is this important?

The Daily Mail’s coverage of the migrants in Calais has been a national disgrace, referring to them as a ‘swarm’ looking to mooch off the UK.

The Mail, as the second most-read paper in the country and most-read English news site in the world, should give an accurate picture to its readers.

Sign the petition and tell all your friends to do the same.

Once we have 1,000 signatures we will publicly deliver this to the Daily Mail.

These migrants have been demonized. They deserve the right to speak in their own voice – and the British public should be allowed to hear them.

Er no I won’t force a paper to do this. You need to quit navel gazing everything the Mail and Telegraph publishes like some PC do-gooder.

But they are PC do-gooders, this kind of nonsense is inevitable.

When you get twenty people acting together to pull down a fence why can’t some word like ”swarm” be used? Years ago some football fans would try a similar trick to break into a football ground and just all jump the turnstiles at the same time. You could call that a swarm or a rush.
The word ”steaming” came into parlance ten or fifteen years ago to describe a new kind of street crime.

On the news the other night there were some angry guys from west Africa who were upset that the ferry in Kos was only taking Syrian asylum seekers. They felt they were being discriminated against because they were African. Nigerians don’t need to seek asylum in Europe. If they come from the troubled north east they can go to Lagos.

  4. I'm very cross about this.

Why on earth would anyone want to hear and interview with anyone from Calais?
Interviewer. Why do you want to get into the UK.
Criminal. Benefits, free housing, free healthcare, free schooling.
    Interviewer. OK.

‘Criminal’? Really fair and balanced, aren’t you?
